Q.6

Reference:
This stanza has been taken from A Bird Came Down the Walk,” written by Emily Dickinson

Context:
Emily Dickinson often noticed small, quiet details in nature. This poem shows her usual style — careful observation, clear images, and thoughts about life and how humans connect with nature. She probably wrote it while watching animals in her garden or the nearby surroundings.

Explanation:
In these lines, the poet, in the spontaneous overflow of his powerful emotions, describes the joyful and harmonious relationship between nature and human life. The poet observes a bird in its natural surroundings, noticing its actions and behaviour. The bird eats a worm, drinks dew, and carefully avoids disturbing other creatures, showing both the harshness and harmony of nature. Its alertness and delicate beauty contrast with its predatory side. When sensing danger, the bird flies away smoothly, like oars rowing a boat.

The language of the poem is simple, lucid, profound, and thought-provoking. Both the implicit (inner) and explicit (outer) meanings encourage the reader to reflect and consider.
